Vogar
- A growing town -

Vogar is a quiet little fishing village. We recommend a walk along the seaside on a sunny day. Vogar offers a variety of service such as a grocery store, gas station, a bank, a post office and a new swimming pool with camping grounds. Located less than 35 km. from Reykjavík, just north of the main road, the county Vatnsleysuströnd is an ideal area to begin a visit of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Built in 1891, the church at Kalfatjorn is Iceland’s largest rural church, a protected building, which interior has been restored to its original form. By the church is a small and friendly golf course. This area was once a thriving community, basing its livelihood on the sea as well as farming. When facing the moorland, the mountains provide a spectacular background. The low and freestanding Mt Keilir has long been the landmark of the area, and is frequented by many, who want to enjoy the panoramic view on a fine day. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking.
