Hjá Marlín

Reyðarfjörður is a town of 1500 inhabitants and conveniently located for exploring the East Fjords. All basic services are available in the town, such as supermarkets, post office, bank and cash dispensers, restaurants, etc.

The Hostel is located in four cozy houses. 

Vallargerði 9 houses the reception. 

All houses have well equipped bedrooms and spacious and comfortable common areas, perfect for reading and relaxing and writing those postcards that you meant to send. For those that do not want to part with their laptops during their vacation there is free wireless internet at the Hostel, and other guests can use a computer for the internet at the reception, also free of charge.

There are plenty of leisure activities to do in Reyðarfjörður. For the outdoorsy traveller there are marked hiking trails in the area, varying of length and challenge. Just out of town is the headland of Hólmanes, an ideal site for outdoor recreations, whether among the cliffs or at the shore and offers an abundant birdlife and peculiar rock formations. A hiking map can be bought at the Hostel. Reyðarfjörður was the second largest of the Allied bases in Iceland during World War II and in the old camp above the town is a highly interesting museum on WWII and life in Iceland during the war. The Hostel owners a have boat and the guests can go for a fishing trip and to admire the puffins and mountains from sea. You can also have a guided trip to a ryoliet-mountain area only to reach with a 4x4.
