Hótel Flókalundur is a small family-run hotel in Vatnsfjörður, on the south coast of the Westfjords. The hotel was built in 1966 by the Local Region Association Barðstrendingafélagið, but prior to that, a restaurant was in operation on this location since 1961 and Vatnsfjörður has always been a popular visiting place for tourists in the area.

The present owners of the Hotel are Soffía Haraldsdóttir, Steinunn E. Hjartardóttir and their respective husbands, Sævar Pálsson and Ólafur Haraldsson. They have owned and operated Hotel Flokalundur since 1999 and have made many improvements on the hotel in their time. The improvement are on-going, making use of the winter time, while the Hotel is closed for renewal.

Several small fjords that serrate the coastline are on the South coast of the Westfjords, Vatnsfjörður being the most westerly of those. Towards the west lies the Barðaströnd and towards the east lies Hjarðarnes.

Barðaströnd is quite populated whereas the area east of Vatnsfjörður is mostly uninhabited now.

The summers in Vatnsfjörður are beautiful and the weather mild.

The ferry across Breiðafjörður lands at Brjánslækur just 5 minutes from Flókalundur and on it you can visit the island of Flatey on your trip to Stykkishólmur on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Hotel Flókalundur is conveniently situated on the South Coast of Westfjords and is within an easy distance to several places of interest such as Látrabjarg, Rauðasandur, Selárdalur and Ísafjörður to name a few.
