Hotel Staðarborg opened in June 2000. It is situated in the eastern part of Iceland, in the valley Breiðdalur, between Egilsstaðir and Höfn. Hotel Staðarborg is formerly the schoolhouse in Breiðdalur which has now been thoroughly renovated and can accommodate 54 people in 30 spacious rooms complete with private facilities and television.

The hotel´s restaurant serves all meals a la carté and refreshments are available throughout the day. Facilities at Hotel Staðarborg include a jacuzzi and a grassy sports field. Also available are sleeping bag accommodations and a camping site.

Hotel Staðarborg is located on Highway #1, about 7 km from the village Breiðdalsvík. The distance from Reykjavík is 625 km and 75 km from Egilsstaðir. There are daily scheduled flights to Egilsstaðir from Reykjavík and scheduled coaches are available from Egilsstaðir, Höfn and Reykjavík. The hotel is also a suitable resting place for those who travel by the ferry Norraena, as it is only about 100 km from Seyðisfjörður.
