The Old Post House

Gamla Posthusid (The Old Post House) offers boutique style holiday apartments in Saudarkrokur in the Skagafjordur region of North West Iceland; the perfect vacation rental for your Iceland holiday. The building was originally constructed in 1952 and was an active post office until the end of 2008. It is conveniently located in the centre of town, only a few metres walking distance to the bakery, restaurants, museum and harbour. The Old Post House has just recently undergone major renovations to create two spacious self catering apartments, with views of the fjord and the church. The apartments are available for holiday rental all year round.

Saudarkrokur and the Skagafjordur region have much to offer the tourist. Visit the local Museum and the Tannery Centre highly renowned for its fish leather,  explore the historical area of Holar established in 1106 and visit the town of Hofsos with its emmigration museum, basalt cliffs and fabulous cliff side swimming pool. Check out the turf farmhouse museum at Glaumbaer or take a boat ride to the island Drangey to see an array of bird life including the Puffin, not forgetting to stop for a soak in the hot springs at Grettislaug. For the more active traveler there is golf, swimming, horse riding tours, mountain walks, river rafting, plus skiing during the winter.  Make Saudarkrokur your base and explore these attractions and more, most less than an hours drive away.
